My Massive Collection of Coolness.

So check it! About a month ago, sorry about the late post, I was invited to be one of the 30 "special guests" of the Video Games Live concert during the Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco. I can't express how awesomely, awesome it was to meet so many fans of the games I've composed for. It was truly flattering. A big thank you to all who came to the show and especially those who stayed until 1am standing in the cold line just to meet all of the "special guests". Of course, the hugest thank you to Tommy and Jack for the invitation and for consistently getting great game music heard by the masses.

During VGL, as we veterans like to call it. I'm just kidding. Well kind of. I mean people do refer to Video Games Live as VGL. I was definitely kidding about the veteran part, then again, if you know me, you already know I'm kidding. So i guess I'm now being redundant...again. Anyhoo, during VGL I got to meet Soren Johnson and I really had to work very hard to not go all fanboi on him. It was kind of embarrassing. If you're not familiar with Soren's work, let me simply say; he is a game design MASTER. Do you know the game Sid Meier's Civilization? If you do then you already know how killer Civ is. Soren improved an already popular design with details that took the game to the highest level of mastery. Civ 3 and, especially, Civ 4 are the pinnacles of strategy game brilliance. So as you can tell I'm a fan. If you're reading this Soren, and if in some alternate universe where two suns and two moons have aligned to shed a double halo of light on an earth-like planet, you just may be...it was nice meeting you and honestly I wasn't drunk, I just happen to slur my words when I get nervous, haha.

So more about GDC, as we veterans like to call it....oh nevermind. GDC is the one time of the year I get to hang with some of my dearest friends. Ian Stocker, who is responsible for getting me into this mess, lives in Oakland and every year generously opens his home to we the wayfarers and like clockwork I arrived, pillow in hand and was taken in. Thank you so much Ian! BTW, I don't snore....that was Bunny, shhhhehe. I also finally got to meet Ian's long time love Mary, who is sooooooo cool! They're a matched pair those two, just perfect. Next on the list is Matt Piersall....SHUT UP! (as in NO WAY!). I don't know who energizes me more Ian or Matt. Ian is always happy in a Zen Buddhist kind of way. Matt is always happy in a Red Bull kind of way. He's unstoppable and I love it. I'm neither Zen nor Unstoppable so as you can tell these two gents have the super powers I wish I had. I've never seen either one of them grumpy or stressed and they both work rings around me...how do they do that? Matt, came equipped with two guys from his shoppe; Kidko and Bela Black. To sum it up...more doods with super powers I wish I had. They were two of the coolest guy I've met to date....not "to date" as in, "hey, what's your sign" but "to date as in "02/20/2008". Not that theres anything wrong with that, thanks Jerry. Unfortunately, DJ Sexidillionaire/Chris24_Sab@ didn't make it this year. Chris we needs ta meet up and catch up.

So now onto board games. During our lunches here at Neversoft there is a group of us who like to play board games. Yes I said board-games. Now I obviously like all kind of games but board games weren't at the top of my list and there is where I made a fatal error. I've been having so much fun playing board games that I've been purchasing the ones I liked most for my collection which is getting obscene. My favorite so far is Last Night On Earth. Do you like zombies? Do you like movies? You'll LOVE Last Night on Earth.

Well that just about wraps everything up. Work is great as you might expect. We're working hard to GH: Aerosmith and some other surprises.

Cya,
