We collect only what we need to run this site, answer you, and license GAGE. We don’t sell your data, and there are no ad trackers or analytics on this site.
Who we are
MoonTech Studios, LLC (“we”) runs this website and makes GAGE Sampler and GAGE Player. Questions about anything on this page: hello@gagesampler.com.
What we collect, and why
If you use the contact form
Your name, email address, the topic you pick and your message. We use them to reply to you. They are saved in a private log on our web server and emailed to us.
If you join the launch list or newsletter
Your email address and which list you chose. We use it to send the GAGE launch announcement and GAGE news. When we start sending, every email will include an unsubscribe link. Until then you can ask us to remove you at any time.
If you are a beta tester
The feedback form asks for your name, your platform (Mac or Windows), the kind of feedback and your description. We use it to fix bugs and improve GAGE. The beta download area sets a cookie so you stay signed in. GAGE Player is distributed through Apple’s TestFlight: we see the email addresses of the testers we invite, and Apple shares crash reports and feedback with us according to each tester’s own TestFlight settings.

When you use and license GAGE Sampler
GAGE works offline. It contacts our license server only in these cases:
- Activating a license: your license key, your computer’s scrambled ID (explained below), your operating system (macOS or Windows) and the GAGE version. We use them to check the key and to count computers against the key’s limit (two by default).
- Starting or continuing a trial: an unlicensed copy sends the same scrambled computer ID, operating system and version, so we can remember when that computer’s trial began. That stops a trial being restarted by deleting files.
- Every couple of weeks, on a licensed computer that is online: your license ID and computer ID, to find out whether the license was refunded or deactivated.
- Removing a license: the same details, to free that computer’s spot.
The computer ID is a one-way scrambled fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash) made on your computer from a hardware identifier. We never receive the underlying identifier. GAGE never sends your name, your files, your music, your samples or your templates. The license record itself (your key, the email address on the license, the order reference and the license type) is kept as long as the license exists.
GAGE Player does not connect to our servers.
IP addresses
When your computer contacts the license server, we keep only a keyed, one-way scramble of your IP address. It lets us block repeated wrong-key guesses (those entries are cleared after a day) and look into abuse. Our web host also keeps ordinary server logs that contain IP addresses (see below).
When you visit this website
Our web host, Bluehost, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, and the pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. We use no analytics, no advertising trackers and no tracking cookies. Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so Google’s servers see your IP address and browser details when a page loads. Our host’s security system may also set a short technical cookie to tell people from automated bots.
Payments (not open yet)
When purchases open, a payment provider will handle your payment details. We will receive your name, email address and order details, never your full card number. We will name the provider here before that starts.
Who we share it with
- Our web and email host (Bluehost), which stores the site, our mailboxes and the license server.
- Apple, for GAGE Player beta testing through TestFlight.
- Google, for the fonts described above.
- A payment provider and an email-newsletter service, once we add them. We will list them here first.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may disclose it if the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages, feedback and emails: as long as they are useful for support. We delete them when you ask.
- License records: while the license is active, and afterwards only as needed for support and accounting.
- Trial records (the scrambled computer ID, operating system, version and start date): kept so a trial cannot be reset. They contain no name or email address.
Your choices
Email hello@gagesampler.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. You can unsubscribe from GAGE emails at any time. Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK) you may have further rights over your information, and we will honor them wherever they apply. Deleting GAGE’s trial files on your own computer does not reset a trial, because the license server remembers when it started.
Security
This site and the license server use HTTPS. Keys and records are kept on private servers, not in public folders. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care with what we hold.
Children
This site and GAGE are not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and its date. For significant changes we will say so on the site.
